I was very saddened to hear of Stephen’s passing. He was my choir master for 16 tremendous years. Concerts with the MSO, trips to the UK and US, multiple records, choir camp, and G&S musicals. The list goes on. He made music fun while bringing a high level of professionalism to the music program at St. Matthias. He will be missed. Andrew

Many times I’ve driven by your home, always had a pleasant wave or a friendly hello and conversation.
You were so pleased with the new part that was added to your home, not so much for the new look but that Susan and Grant would be moving in. Making your house into a home, thank you for teaching me how to sing a difficult song and your friendship will be missed. Good bye my friend and my sympathies and condolences to Susan and Grant he will be missed

Stephen meant so much to me having sung in the St. Matthias Choir starting at the age of 8. I have so many memories of G and S operettas, concerts with the MSO at Place des Arts and Notre Dame Basilica, many recordings and of course our 2 UK tours. Stephen was influential in teaching me all I know about church music and choral singing, and I shall be forever grateful to him for this. I send my deepest condolences to his family, and pray that he can now rest in peace.

Organist, choirmaster, priest, operetta impresario, tour organizer: Stephen’s leadership and musicianship at St. Matthias’ Church were outstanding. Great memories especially the 1987 Choir Trip to Bristol and Edinburgh Cathedrals. Stephen even let me sing in the choir.

Dear Susan & Grant & family, André & Benôit
I am so sorry to hear of Stephen’s passing. And so sorry for your loss.
I saw him last year when visiting Ormstown and had a wonderful chat as always. He was a great neighbour and good friend for many years.
He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance.
Music will fill the air now that he is with your Mom and laughter will abound.
RIP, Stephen, you have earned it. Now you can share your music with the angels & Jesus.
Sincerely,
Sharon
