Garth Lloyd Waddell, 1925–2024

On December 10, 2024, at the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown,
Garth Lloyd Waddell passed away peacefully, in his 100th year.

Father to Charlie (Marita) and John (Kathy), Grandfather to Carmen Vanderlinde (Rik), Chelsea Rae (Brandon), Luke Waddell (Krista), Jessica McCaig (Elliott) and Johnny Waddell (Bailey); he was a great-Grandfather to 11. Garth was predeceased by his wife Lois (née McComb), his sister Donalda and his brother Clinton.

We wish to express our gratitude and appreciation for the care provided with compassion and kindness to Garth at the Barrie Memorial Hospital and at the Résidence Riviera in Huntingdon, and for the many calls and visits that brightened his days.

A lifelong resident and farmer on Covey Hill Quebec,
he will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

Burial at the Union Church Cemetery on Covey Hill Road,
followed by a reception at the Havelock Town Hall,
will be held next spring (date to be announced).

In Garth’s memory, donations may be made
to a charity of your choice.

Our deepest sympathies to Charlie, John and families.
It’s always hard losing a parent at any age, your dad lived a good life. I saw him last spring and had a nice visit with him. From longtime neighbors,
    Eileen and Dorothy Cleland

Condolences to the Waddell family. I have many good memories of our Waddell neighbours across the road for the many years we lived there.

RIP Garth. Visits to you and Lois were a highlight of visits to Canada. Rides on your red tractor were thrilling to a young me, and later for my own children. I can hear your kindly, booming voice now. A great and lovely man.

My Deepest sympathies to the family
I will always remember when we picked up
apples at his farm and he would bring me a
tartlet made by Lois and a drink to have while
    he loaded the trailer.
    R.I.P Garth
