Garth passed away on November 13, 2025,
in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, at the age of 82 years.
…
Born on September 16, 1943, he was predeceased by his parents Isabell Rember and Allan Cavers.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 56 years, Ruth Molasky, and his children: twins Kirk (Renée Sabetta) and Katie (Mike Sutton), and Scott (Julie Plourde); his grandchildren: Thornton and Kerry Westley, and Grace Sutton; Ashleigh and Travis Cavers; and Aléxe and Sasha Cavers, as well as two great-grandchildren, Wilder and Iris. He also leaves behind his three sisters: Judy (Mike Gindl), Gail (Paul McMahon) and Janet (A.B.Ednie), many nieces and nephews, as well as relatives in N.B.
Garth was the 6th generation of the Cavers’ Farm, milking cows and becoming interested in pedigreed Holsteins, thus choosing “Caverhill Farms” as the official name. He was so proud to receive his first “Ex. cow” in 1999 and to have a descendant from a “Caverhill” cow become a “2024 Cow of the Year”.
Garth was very much a “people person,” who loved to visit with anyone and everyone. He also loved his sports: played some ball, played lots of hockey, curled and golfed over 50 years; but through all of this, he always got home to milk the cows.
During his lifetime, Garth served on various committees: he served for over 50 years at the Ormstown Fair, either on a 4-H committee (where he was also a 4-H leader) on the cattle committee, as director or on a reception committee. Garth also served on the Parents’ Committee for Boy Scouts and was a trustee for both St. Paul’s United Church and the Union Cemetery Committee.
Upon retiring, he loved to travel (driving) especially in Canada, but he was always interested to know “what was happening” at the farm. He dearly loved his family and always “kept in touch” with everyone.
Visitation will be held at St. Paul’s United Church,
19 Lambton St., Ormstown, on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, at 1 p.m.
followed by the service at 2 p.m.
Burial will take place at a later date.

Donations in Garth’s memory may be made
to a charity of your choice.

Our sincerest sympathy to Ruth and the family. I have so many memories to cherish from my time staying at the farm, learning how to not let a calf tip over its bucket of milk, times at the sugar shack, living in that cosy farmhouse waiting out an ice storm while Isabel fed us all the best roasts in the freezer before all was thawed, and having Garth drive us around town or to the fair. He was the brother I never had, so kind and generous. He will be missed by all who knew him,

To Ruth and the entire Cavers family, we extend our condolences for the loss of your loved one. We both knew Garth for many years and have fond memories of countless friendly interactions with him, at social events, on the Malone golf course or more recently while meeting up for a chat along the streets of Ormstown. May he rest in peace, Doreen and Lyndon

Good Memories of Garth, personally i am gratefull to have known him since my toddler years. He was one of the first to accept our beehives to come and produce honey and pollinate crops at his farm and still today with his son Kirk. My first memory of Garth is when i was a kid and after unloading our beehive we went to the sugar shanty in the back. Garth and his father were boiling the sap and just finished filling the wood furnace. It was a cold evening and i was frozen in my skidoo suit so the warmth of the fire was soothing until my father mentionned it smelled like plastic. He ask me to turn around from where i was standing which was close to the fire pit.
When i turned around they, my father, Garth and Garth father all laughed so much. My front skidoo suit had all melted down. That moment is engraved in my memory for life.
Our sincere condelences to the whole family. From myself and the Laberge family

Dear Ruth, Kirk, Katie, Scott and your families. Garth was a great guy to visit with. We shared lots of laughs on the hockey rink and off. Got to realize how passionate he was about farming, when his grandkids attended OES. We will miss visiting with him at the 4H shows. Our sympathies to each of you.

Our deepest sympathies to you, Ruth, and to your entire
extended family. Though I didn’t know either of you well, I had the pleasure of teaching your three children and will remember the several times we ran into you after matinee movies in Kirkland. Later, we often ran into Garth on Tuesday morning when we were walking.
Again, our deepest condolences.
