Jean Ruth Niles (née Dobson), 1938–2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing
of Jean Ruth Dobson on March 15, 2026.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, David Lewis Niles, she passed away to be reunited with him on the anniversary of his death.

Jean was a devoted loving mother and mother‑in‑law to Stephen and Patty (Ohayon), Joanne, Kim and Bill (Haramis). She was a cherished Grammy to Kylie (Stephen Parker) and Sarah Niles (Kent Mader); Mitchel (Meghan), Nykolas (Emily Gaudet) and Jeffrey Bringolf, and to Chloé and Charlotte Haramis; each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

Jean will also be dearly missed as a loving sister, aunt, great‑aunt, and loyal friend to many. She will forever be remembered for her devotion, strength, and unwavering love for her family, and as the sweetest, kindest, most beautiful person inside and out.

Visitation will be held at McGerrigle Funeral Home
on Wednesday, March 18 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on the following day—March 19
at St. Paul’s United Church, 19 Lambton St., Ormstown Qc.

In Jean’s memory, donations to a charity
of your choice would be appreciated.

I was so sorry to read of the passing of Jean. She and I worked together at Franklin School. Jean loved her students and saw the best in all of them. She had such a great sense of humour and we had many days when, in the staff room, we would listen to her stories as she spoke of her students with such love. She also spoke of how proud she was of her children. I send you all love and energy at this very sad time.

Taught alongside Jean at Franklin School. Her students loved her as she made their learning fun. A wonderful teacher and lady. Our sympathies to Jean’s family.

    To Stephen and family –

We were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of your mom, Jean. Please accept my heartfelt condolences to you, Patty, and your entire family.

Your mom sounds like an extraordinary woman—so devoted to her family and clearly cherished by everyone who knew her. The love, strength, and kindness she shared will no doubt live on through all of you and in the many lives she touched.

I hope there is some comfort in knowing she is now reunited with your father, and that their love continues beyond this life.

Thinking of you during this difficult time, Stephen. Please know I’m here for you if you need anything at all.

    With my deepest sympathy,
    Barb & Ray Fournier

To all of Jean’s family, to Everett & Margaret & family with my heartfelt condolences,

My heart stopped when I saw this beautiful face looking out at me. I have so many happy & fun memories of Jean, our Garage Sale days, Thrift Store days and just days chatting .
I loved her sense of humour and her kindness.
After moving away I only got to visit her just a couple of times in the Residence but she was still the same feisty , funny, sweet Jean.
Keep all your fun happy memories alive to help you through the coming days.
    Sincerely,
    Sharon Higgins
