Dainius Lukosevicius, 1941–2025

Dainius passed away peacefully at home
on May 14, 2025, at the age of 83.

He leaves behind his wife Dalia Sibitis, his daughters Lana (Vince) and Aida (children of late Albina Grigas); “Tevukas” to Krista; Dalia’s children: Marius, Henrikas and Claudia; “Pappy” to Jake and Joseph; and so many other cherished family and friends.

We remember him as helpful, curious, inclusive, resilient, and a very proud Lithuanian. Forever young at heart; the life of the party and the last one off the dance floor, he loved to laugh and engage with the youthful generation. Always up for any conversation, with valuable insight, and no judgment.

Rarely sitting idle, on the move as a tenacious athlete; marathons, sailing, cycling, skiing, basketball… And as an avid DIYer, in a constant loop of building, fixing, and demolishing.

We will miss your beautiful,
unique energy.

We would be tremendously grateful for donations to the hospitals
that took such good care of him over the past year,
the Jewish General Hospital in Montréal,
and the Suroît Regional Hospital in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.

Funeral mass will take place on Saturday, July 12th at 1:00 p.m.
at Our Lady Gate of Dawn Church, 1465, rue De Sève in Montréal.

Since we met Dainius and later on Dalia, who he loved so much, we can say we are friends.
We had so many wonderful times together in Aubeterre and in Canada.
Even our trip to Rome when Dainius couldn’t join he was there to help us out when the plane didn’t go and we had to travel up north to take another route home.
And when he was in Aubeterre he was always building to make the house a better place so we could rent it out for them and, to be together with the Lithuanian family. Dainius always needed a project. If he had no project in his own house, he helped us.
He helped in my studio which was an open barn in the beginning. Dainius helped with plastering the walls and the ceiling. Just a couple of days he said. He was an optimist!
We will never forget him knowing how many years, months, weeks, days and hours ago he stopped drinking alcohol. So brave of him drinking only 0.0 beer.
We learned that he had been a top-salesman on the brocante in Aubeterre. He could sell everything to anyone. That was a good day for charity.
    We miss you Dainius.
