Peacefully, on Friday, March 23, 2018, in her 103rd year.
Born in Ormstown to William and Mary Mabon Roy, Elizabeth was predeceased by her sister Marjorie and brothers Melville, and twins Walter and Wesley.
She was known for her delightful laugh, wonderful smile and keen mind.
The stone school in Franklin was where she began her teaching career, ending it at Willingdon School in Montreal. She travelled widely, visiting many parts of the world.
A lover of words, Elizabeth kept a diary, did crossword and always enjoyed sharing the ‘Word of the day’.
She kept fit with walking and swimming, well into her 90’s. Church, community and family connections were important to her and she kept in touch with a wide circle of people of all ages.
Elizabeth was a great inspiration to many and her memory will be cherished fondly by her goddaughter, many cousins, friends, neighbours and acquaintances.
Special thanks to the staff at La Résidence in Ormstown, her home for the past 7 years, for their exceptional loving care of Elizabeth. She always enjoyed her meals there, greatly appreciating ‘the presentation’. Thanks also to the good care given to her at the Centre d’Hébergement, Huntingdon.
Funeral service on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2 pm at St. Paul’s United Church, Ormstown. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory to the Women’s Auxiliary of the Barrie Memorial Hospital, 28 Gale St., Ormstown, QC J0S 1K0 would be appreciated.
