Gertrude passed away peacefully on September 3rd, 2019 at Extendicare, Kingston, at the age of 98.
Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Allen, treasured mother of Gary (Ann), Diane (Derek) and predeceased by her daughter Marlene. Proud grandmother of Trevor, Scott and Julie. Great grandmother of Isaac, Noah and Alex, who will greatly miss her.
Predeceased by her 10 siblings, Gertie was the youngest of 11 children. The two great tragedies in her life were the death of her daughter Marlene at the age of 21, and the loss of her beloved Lloyd, age 84.
Gertie was very involved in the Howick United Church, was a wonderful cook, enjoyed having company and loved to play bridge.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at the McGerrigle Funeral Home in Ormstown, from noon to 2:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at the Howick United Church at 2:30 pm.
Donations in her memory to the Alzheimer Society Suroît, 340 boulevard du Havre, Suite 101, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield QC, J6S 1S6, would be appreciated.
