Irene Emmaline Hamilton (née Robinson), 1928–2023

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of
Irene Emmaline Robinson-Hamilton, age 94,
daughter of late James Robinson and late Della O’Dell,
on June 7, 2023 at the Barrie Memorial Hospital,
after a long and happy life.
….

Irene was born and raised in Lacolle, Quebec. She attended Ormstown High School where she met Willand Hamilton and later, married him. She lovingly raised a brood of five rambunctious boys on the Hamilton farm in Ormstown and had the grey hairs to prove it.  A true matriarch, she was the heart and glue that held her family together.

A spirited competitor, lifelong curler, and a champion flower arranger, she was always up for a game of 500 (Ormstown or Lacolle rules).

Predeceased by her husband, she leaves to mourn her sister Anne (late Gordon), her sons, Jim (Nancy), Doug (Lee Ann), Tom (Claire), Garry (Lynn) and Donnie, as well as her cat, Spitter.

Irene’s legacy lives on in her 7 grandchildren and 3-1/2 great-grandchildren.

Private family memorial service.
Friends and neighbours are invited to join the family for a celebration of Irene’s life
at the Ormstown Curling Club on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 2:00 p.m.—5:00 p.m.

Donations to the Women’s Auxiliary of the Barrie Memorial Hospital,
will be appreciated.
