Stephen « Steve » James Jackson, 1947–2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father
Stephen “Steve” James Jackson on August 31st,
at the Suroît Regional Hospital where he passed away peacefully
with his family by his side.

Steve was born August 4, 1947, in Toronto, Ontario, to Donald Harry Jackson and Mary Adonah Hopper. He was a very humble man, a jack of all trades and had an endless appreciation for nature. He loved gardening and was an avid fisherman, which went back to his family’s roots in Newfoundland. He had a great sense of humour and often joked about being a “Newfie.” He enjoyed working with his hands and had a great pride for his “Log Babies » that were hand-carved photo frames on which he would spend hours perfecting them.

He will be missed by his children Donald William Jackson, Jody Lynn Darrach (James), Stephanie Camille Jackson, Jesse Lee Jackson (Jennifer), Laura Delaney Jackson (Martin) and Kaitlyn Adonah Jackson (Danny); by his grandchildren River, Autumn, Madilyn, Joseph, Teshawna, Teanna, Cody, Kara, Ethan, Adam, Alyssa, Kloe, Stella, and his great-grandson Henri. He also leaves to mourn his sisters Barbara Carolyn Jackson and Donna Marie Burke (Dave), his brothers Robert John Jackson (Joanne) and James Malcolm Law (Cecilia), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Steve was predeceased by his younger sister Sharon Anne Lant (Michael) and his parents.

We would like to thank the Barrie Memorial Hospital and the Huntingdon CLSC for all the services and wonderful care that were provided this past year.

In keeping with his wishes,
we will have a celebration of life at a later date.

Sincere condolences to the Jackson family and friends. What a handsome picture. I can totally see the resemblance in all his children and grandchildren. Reading about his hand carvings reminds me of Donnie. Now I know where he gets his artistic talent from! Hearing he would spend hours perfecting…..well that reminds me of Jody and Stephanie! They are both perfectionists! Take comfort in knowing your Dad / grandfather / friend is resting in peace. Love to all xo
