Kenneth Brooks, 1966–2024

It is with great sadness that we announce
the peaceful passing of Ken, at the age of 57, on March 22, 2024.

Ken will be greatly missed by his children Elliot (Zoé), Eric and Eve (Dylan) and his siblings Cathy (Dave) and Bob (Wendy). He was the proud uncle of Caitlyn (Andrew), Mitch (Tamara), Brittany and Jordan (Êliane) and great-uncle to Landen, Teagan, Liam and Rosemary.

A proud farmer in addition to being passionate about his sugar bush and maple syrup production, Ken was a person very involved in his community. He will also be remembered for the love he had for his family who will miss him deeply.

A private service will be held at a later date.
To honour Ken’s memory, donations
can be made to the ALS Society of Canada.

The Brooks family would like to thank the staff
of the Barrie Memorial Hospital and the Montreal Sacred Heart Hospital,
as well as the extended family and friends for their compassion
and their support.

Kenny was always one of the « big kids » who did not mind talking to me in Kindergarten at Franklin School, and from that way forward, defined his gentle way afterwards too. I was grateful to be able to keep in touch with him over the many years since then, and am at a loss for words to describe how less of a place the world is, without this kind man in it. I miss you already Kenny. – A friend

Greatly saddened to hear of Ken’s illness and passing. We raised our 2 boys and 1 girl each and grew apples and maple syrup as country neighbours on Brooks Road. His life was that beautiful meticulously-run Franklin farm. Thoughts and prayers for the whole family.

To the familly, what a huge loss for the community. I have know Ken for over 30 years, and always his huge smile to great me, even if we met only every 3 or 4 years when there was a federal election. Very proud of his farm and his familly background in Franklin. The Conservative Party has lost a great supporter, as well as all the other entities he was involved with. Like so many others, I am shocked and saddened by the news of Kenny’s passing. My heart goes out to his family.
I met Ken when we were in elementary school, our family having moved to the Dunn property down the road from him. He was one of the first people I recall meeting as an 8 yr old getting on the school bus, always with a big smile and friendly persona. I still have one of his school photos, and when we reconnected on FB a few years ago I was delighted to see that familiar smile, not having changed a bit. I guess we hadn’t “caught up” all that much, because I didn’t know he had three children until this day, all their names starting with the letter “E”. I wondered briefly if that had any correlation to my family’s “J” names. Even our dog was named “JJ”, lol.
He was a lovely person, through and through, from the beginning. I was blessed to have known him. May he Rest in Peace.
