Jean Brocklehurst (née Kerr), September 9, 1945—April 23, 2025

It is with great sadness that Jean’s family announces her passing
at the age of 79, on April 23, 2025.

Jean was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald Brocklehurst. She leaves to mourn her children Sharon (Rick), Randy, Matthew (Valerie), Lynne (Marc), in addition to her beloved grandchildren, Anika (Brock), Lucas (Avery), Austin, James (Adison), Emma, and Alex. She will also be missed by her sister Bertie Cole, by members of a large extended family and by friends as well.

Jean, originally from Howick, Québec, was well known throughout the Châteauguay Valley for her years operating greenhouses with her husband Don, where they sold flowers, tomatoes and vegetables to the local community.

She was also well known for being fabulously talented in the kitchen where she worked tirelessly preparing delicious country-style meals and desserts from her home. She catered countless community events over the years, feeding hearty meals to groups both large and small.

Most importantly, she is lovingly remembered by her family as being selflessly dedicated to her children and grandchildren. Jean loved having kids and teenagers surround her at home. She delighted in cooking and caring for all of us, including our many childhood friends; “Jean’s Kitchen” was where we all gathered.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Fabienne Djandji and the many nurses and attendants at both the Barrie Memorial Hospital and the Huntingdon CLSC who cared for Jean. We recognize them for their kindness, compassion and professionalism ; Thank you!

As per Jean’s wishes, a private memorial service
will be held at a later date.To honour Jean’s memory, donations to the Women’s Auxiliary
of the Barrie Memorial Hospital, 28 Gale St., Ormstown Qc, J0S 1K0,
would be greatly appreciated.

Our deepest condolences to the family. Aunt Jean always welcomed us with wide open arms at any time that we dropped in. We could sit and chat away an afternoon like we were old friends, instead of Aunt and nephew.

We will miss her dearly and send our love and prayers to all the family.
