Lida Pit (née Zijp), 1948–2023

With great sadness the family announce the passing of Lida Zijp

To Wendy, Laura, Eric and families ours deepest sympathies. We have many warm memories of Lida and Bert in the kitchen having what else but a good coffee and some of Lida’s baked goodies. My kids loved going over to see them. I cherish her many beautiful handmade cards she gave us over the years. A truly warm, creative, kind and generous « earth mother » – miss her. Much love Zofia, Mike, Shawn, Roze and Ben

My deepest sympathies to her family. I always enjoyed being at the farm. Lida made it a warm and safe place to be. She was always doing fun creative projects with us. As a child I didn’t know what an anxiety disorder was. Lida always seemed to do the exact right thing when I became anxious. She was calm and soothing. I was honoured to be able to return the favour over the last few years the best I could. She has touched many lives and will be fondly remembered. She was so lucky to have so many of her friends that continued to look after her when she needed it. I hope your good memories of your mom help carry through this difficult time.

It’s difficult to come to terms with the loss of loved ones, I only spent a couple years being taught by them.
Making clay figures, bowls, painting, learning basics of colour and mixing paint and drawing.
But even with a such brief time spent with them, both Bert and Lida had a profound effect on my life.
and with them both leaving together, I can’t help but feel relief and a great profound loss that they need not spend anymore time away from one another.
yet even still they leave together as we must remain, and though they have left us with all the cherished memories we could ask for, it is those very same memories that make goodbyes and finding peace in them so difficult to bear.
-my deepest sympathies for your loss, Avery Erskine.
