Margaret (née Thompson) McCartney-Tully, 1928–2019

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at the age of 90 years.

Pre-deceased by her parents Alexander and Sarah Thompson.  Devoted and loving wife of the late Murray McCartney and the late Peter Tully; cherished and devoted mother of Maureen (Donnie McDougall), John (Phyllis Johnson), Keith (Gayle Upton) and Heather (Grant Royle); beloved grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Our Mom leaves to mourn her sisters, Jean Beauchamp and Alexa Peterson, sisters-in-law, Ethel Thompson, Doris McCartney and Carmen Elder (Donnie) and brother-in-law Russell Tully (Trudy).  Predeceased by her brother Martin and sisters Sadie and Catherine. The family will receive condolences on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Georgetown Presbyterian Church, Howick, Quebec, followed by the funeral service at 2:30 pm.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Doctors, nurses and caregivers of the Barrie Memorial Hospital and the CHSLD Huntingdon for their wonderful support and care.

Donations to a charity of your choice in Mom’s memory would be greatly appreciated.

My deepest sympathy to all of you with the passing of your Mom. May all the good times and happy memories help you through these difficult days. Our Moms spent many hours chatting while they shared a room at the Barrie a couple years back.

Aunt Margaret was a truly wonderful person. She helped our family on numerous occasions over the years. She was always quick to give a joke.
I know that her family will miss her greatly but be comforted that she had a wonderful life.
