Our deepest sympathy to Gladys, Wendy ,Ron and the many family members that Gerald is leaving . As an honorary member of the Brown family, I will cherish the fun and laughter I shared with Jake. He was another brother to me, and although the years and miles have separated us, I have thought of him often and wish him peace as he starts his new journey.

I will always miss my visits to the Family farm to spend time with Uncle Jake. We were so fortunate to have him in our lives and be able to experience country life, harder to come by in the city. I have wonderful memories riding both Lady and Whistle to the old barn at the back, feeding the cows and goats, the birth and feeding of calves, and shucking fresh picked corn with Mom (Rhona) in the old farmhouse garage for Grandma’s dinner. I remember annoyingly pressing keys on the old piano, playing with the John Deer tractors, and watching country music videos on the tv in the kitchen. I miss Shadow, and cuddling with her on the maroon couch as she aged. I remember my excitement when he decided to hire help for the farm and made the trip to Kitchener (possibly 1995 in his Trans Am?) to stay with us during the plowing match. Among the favourites, I remember when the whole Brown siblings’ clan took turns staying with Mom to cheer her up in the hospital just before she passed, and hearing that the nurses complained that there was too much loud laughing going on into the night when it was Uncle Jake and Uncle Ron’s turn.
Uncle Jake will be remembered with love. May he rest in peace with Shadow by his side, joining our family passed, for a beer or glass of wine. xo
