Peggy Rowe (née Dixon), 1924–2020

Peggy Rowe of Ormstown, Quebec, passed away on October19, 2020, aged 96 years.  She was born in London, England, on June 21st, 1924, to the late Henry and Annie Dixon.

Peggy married Hollis Rowe in England in 1943 and lived in Ormstown ever since coming to Canada as a war Bride, in 1946.  Predeceased by her husband Hollis and daughter Pamela, she is survived by her 4 children–Pat (Bill Chesleigh), Jim (Cindy Dewe), Lynn and Perry (Isabelle Legrand)–5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well by as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Peggy was involved in a variety of community activities and was always quick to volunteer for a good cause.  In her eighty’s she could still be seen on the golf course and her ninetieth birthday party found her playing soccer with the children.  She will be fondly remembered for her cooking in general and her cookies in particular.

Due to present circumstances, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at the CHSLD of Ormstown for the exceptional care and compassion they all gave her.

In memoriam to Peggy, donations may be made to the Women’s Auxiliary of the Barrie Memorial Hospital, 28 Gale St., Ormstown, QC J0S 1K0; e-transfers are possible at dabarriememorial@gmail.com

96 years. Wow. Played golf with her and Dad when she was 86. Was in amazing shape and had a pretty good score. Thinking of all of you and all the memories. Thoughts and prayers to you all
