Rita Cavanagh, 1930–2022

It is with great sorrow that brothers Gerry (Anne-Marie), Frank, Dave (Linda),
and sister Madeline, announce the passing of their beloved sister Rita
on Monday April 4, 2022 at the age of 91 years.

Predeceased by her brother Mike and sister Hilda, she also leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Rita’s many stories about her travels will always be remembered, and furthermore, her presence and volunteer work in the community will be sorely missed.

The family will receive condolences on Saturday April 9, 2022 at the St. Malachie Church in Ormstown, at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.

In Rita’s memory, donations to the Women’s Auxiliary of the Barrie Memorial Hospital
in Ormstown would be appreciated.

My deepest condolences to all of Rita’s family. She will be missed by many. Rita had a wonderful sense of humour and I loved hearing her life stories. Whenever I went to visit her, she would always greet me with « Pat, I’m so glad you came ». I hope someday to hear her welcome me on the other side with the same words. Rest in Peace, dear friend.

Thoughts with all of you at this time – I’m Cindy, Mary Clare’s daughter. Rita was a really special friend to my mom (they played scrabble and drank wine, and laughed and fought on all their visits). She was a wonderful friend to me too and an inspiration to me for how to live a life well. I will miss her.
